  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
48' LRC (1976 - 1981)
The 4 position rotary switch that is used to select ether 1,2,3 or 4 it is a Kraus Naimer C1052AI549. The 4 position is bad this is for 240 V connection on the aft. All other positions work correctly. I called Kraus, the do not support this switch anymore and gave me a C8052AI549 as a replacement priced at $1,311.00. Anyone been down this road and have any other solutions.

I'd pUT in an auto switching bucks boost transformer before spending that much on a rotary switch.

Did you check with Sams for the switch?

Frankly, if it was me, I would try to find the same or equivalent switch and just bite the bullet on the price. Certainly I'd want to spend less than the quoted price but if that's the best price...:(

Never switch a rotary while it's powered. This is what burns out the contacts. My suggestion is to move the wires from aft 240v to another spot on that switch that is used the least if at all. Other than that, you either need a new rotary or replace it with breakers with slides.

There you go! and great price!!!!!!

I purchased the one on EBay. Exact replacement, but getting the old one out is a real problem. Can not get to the nuts on the back side of the panel. Everything is mounted to a plate that is bolted to the enclosure. Ended up dissembling the switch and replacing the bad section. These switches are very well built and are modular. Now I have spare sections that con work with every rotary switch in the panel.
Many thanks to Tony for finding it.

Isn't the panel just hinged?

Isn't the panel just hinged?

Yes, the front is hinged. But in the back of the panel is an aluminum plate that is spaced out from the back of the enclosure. The rotary is mounted to that plate.

I'm glad it worked out. I didn't think the eBay switch was 4 position, but I was pretty sure the contact blocks were the same.

If you didn't buy that switch, I was going to buy it. I am going to make a boost circuit for my transformers. There are a couple of other switches out there that will work.

We bought a used one off eBay for around $500, it was the same exact unit.

I have a spare in my stash of parts that I don't think I will ever need. (I hope I didn't just put a hex
on myself) If anyone is in need call me on my cell (732-991-5665) and I will get the model number
etc. off of it. My personal email is waltpereira@aol.com if that's preferable..
