Was the 41 series 2 bottom cored? If so, was it all they was through its run? How about performance with 550 hp 692s?

I thought there was a thread on this performance issue, but a quick search didn't help me out. The.

I believe only the 86 model was a cored bottom.

Didn't they get recalled or repaired also? I heard something to they affect but don't remember at the moment.

No that was the 48

They stopped using cored hulls in the first year but I'm not sure if all '86s are cored. There are a number of threads regarding performance of these boats. Performance seems to vary greatly between hulls with the same power but the general consensus is they need a fair amount of HP to get out of the hole.

Hey guys, thanks. I recall a thread where most were lamenting they way they run with 671s, but a member had one with 92 s that was a rocket ship. This one is a 90 with corner exhausts and 550 92s. Boat has rebuilt mains and looks nice.

My 39 ran a solid 30 kt wide open and slow cruised at 20 at 1800. The boat is the only on in Cali.

The 41C that was fast had 625HP DDECs and was stripped down to make her lighter. That 41C does look nice but the price is way too high, even for the west coast.

Only a few of the '86's were cored. My '86 is hull #20 and is solid glass. Everything from the waterline up is foam cored. Mid-ship exhaust causes excessive backpressure not allowing the engines to utilize all they're capable of, that's where the poor performance comes in. No station wagon effect is nice though. 671's are enough power for average performance -19/20knt cruise @2,150. 692's are the right motors for the boat by todays performance standards, but of coarse the 692,s aren't as reliable as the 71 series. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
