53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
I installed a new jabsco raw water pump last year.(the shaft broke on the old one ) I have had numerous attemps to sop the impeller cocer dripping.I have tried new seals ,gasket sealer and a combiation of the two.I am considering 4200 to try and get a seal .Any opinions? ian w 1981 53

Take a look to see if the cover/housing are true. If there is any warpage between the mating surfaces, it will not seal as it should. You could probably goop some 4200 or silicone in there and it might work but that's a bad repair.

A standard gasket with a smear of normal gasket sealer should do the job just fine. If it won't then there is some issue with trueness of the parts or possibly a nick or something in the mating surface of either the housing or the cover.

If you still have the original slotted head screws, change them out for stainless bolts. You can get those a little tighter. Just be careful not to overtighten and strip out the holes.
