The display on my SEA 222 SSB is out. All else is working fine. Although I only use the SSB while fishing in local waters just to listen to while chunking, I do like it to work properly. I know the manual says there are buttons to press to adjust or dim the display. I have done that to no avail. Any idea why the display may have gone out while all else is working fine. I read something about a driver chip but have no idea what that is or whether that is the problem. Three day weekend coming up and it would be nice to get this fixed. Thanks.

If you can open it up check to see that the display chips have not come unglued from the screen on the inside, if they have use some silicon on the edges and stick them back onto the screen. Ask me how I know this, happened to my auto pilot, sounds crazy but worth a look. My auto pilot had 2 screens and both of them had fallen off. John

Will give it a try.

This won't help your New Year's Fishing, but you may be able to contact the Stevens company through www.seacomcorp.com

I managed to get some salt water funneled down to my SSB which shorted out the display. Sent it back to them, they fixed it. (I didn't believe water could have gotten there, events later proved me wrong.)

Thanks. Just called Doug at SEA. He was very helpful, as usual. Nothing I can do myself so I will likely box it up and ship it on out to him to fix.
