Hatteras Model

Hey guys! Now that boat show season is upon us I was wondering if the seaport folks offer show discounts? I just went to the Newport RI show and they were not there. Does anyone know if they offer discounts during the various boat shows that take place down in say MD or FL? I’m just figuring maybe they do for the shows closer to where they are located. Looking to have everything I need to do some serious cruising when I retire in the next year. Thx.

Sea Pro or Sea Water Pro? Not familiar with sea pro but I installed a sea water pro on the boat I run as. Back up water maker. Nice little unit. Cheap, simple and it works.

Sorry Sea Water Pro. I’ve read all you have posted here and like the simplicity and off the counter parts availability.

Pascal - which unit did you install and what do you think so far? We hold 250 and I'll be damned if the wife doesn't run through it every few days. I could make 40 gallons last all week in the old bachelor boat.

The 30GPH 240v model, it was $3k about 3 years ago, probably $4k now…

I installed it as a back up to the 100gph Sea Recovery.

Not fancy, off the shelf parts but it works. For instance the fresh water flush uses a garden timer… last year when the complicated sea recovery stopped running the FWF, I bought the same garden timer on Amazon…

Only two minor complaints… the feed pump supplied is very small and flimsy so I used a small march I had on board. I also upgraded the nylon lines under the water line with marine hose. And finally for some reason the control panel came with a single pole breaker which didn’t make sense for a 240v pump. Easy fix.

If you are going to cruise the Bahamas and depend on the water maker, I'll suggest a "magnetic switch". Power outages were always frequent in the Bahamas. These switches must be turned on again to repower the wm if there is a power outage. With a regular breaker or switch if the power is restored the membranes will get hammered depending on the wm controls.
This type of switch is probably a good idea regardless of where or how you cruise and get your power.

Thanks for the details.

Dan-
Tell us more about the "magnetic switch". That would be a good idea in a power surge for many devices perhaps.
By the way, I have the Sea Water Pro WM and love it. Very simple design. I have never seen them at a boat show yet though nor have I seen them run any specials.
