  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' MOTOR YACHT (1984 - 1987)
I have had my boat for a week now and am trying to do some maintenance. I can’t get over to my engine sea cocks. I just don’t bend that well anymore. Does anyone have any other suggestions? (This should be good)

Seriously though, every time I twist myself into position to dislocate my shoulder opening/closing those seacocks, I think about rigging up linear electric actuators to do the job. I’ve never heard of anybody doing it, but it’s less complex than lots of other stuff on the boat. It’s number 101 on my list.

I bring my 16 year old son with me.:)

The geometry of boats sucks. Something I didn't grasp till I bought one. A lot of it requires spelunking skills. Just laying on your stomach and reaching for things. And of course, even that isn't as comfortable as it sounds because there isn't a flat place to lay.
