  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
45' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1984 - 1992)
I'm looking to replace my scupper flaps and am thinking about installing covers like this or similar to this. I can't seem to find a source for the ones pictured. These are on a Post and I have also seen them on Vikings, I have called both manufactures and both say they didn't leave the factory with them. I have googled just about every possible name for them and no luck. Might anyone have a source? I saw a nice home made set on a Hatteras factory boat at the Boston in water boat show in 1996 or 97 that the captain had made from PVC pipe, but I have not been able to find images of how they were done, and not sure if PVC will take paint.

Does anyone have experience with these? Pros - Cons?

Thanks,

David

Bluewater in Hampton might have them, they've made a lot of custom parts over the years.
Almost positive Viking used these on the original 48's, whatever years those were.
Also kind of remember somebody was selling these way way back but can't remember the details.
Maybe a small add in the back of the magazine type operation??
As far as making them yourself; PVC will take paint just fine, epoxy prime and then topcoat.
These hold up better made from fiberglass tubing because the PVC will crack easily when hit/crushed.

I have some scrap fiberglass tubing of various diameters around 3 or 4". They were cut offs from a new gas station piping installation. Not sure of the actual size but I can measure them if you want to give that a try--cheap.
