  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
54' MOTOR YACHT (1985 - 1988)
I'm looking for a nice marina facility in the Savannah, Ga. area for about two weeks in July. I would be leaving the boat for about a week while we drive to Atlanta to visit our son, then fly to Minneapolis to visit our daughter. When we come back we spend a week visiting/exploring the savannah area. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I know that Bull River Marina is in Savannah. Just came across a Hatteras owner who keeps his boat there. I am searching for a 58' Hatteras Yachtfish for sale. Do you know of any?

Hey Bill -

I have had boats there for the last 8 years at 4 different marinas. I would absolutely recommend Isle of Hope marina on the ICW. call Patty, and you are welcome to use me as a reference if you would like. They stay very full so you would need to call in advance. a monthly rate at any of these may be less than 2 weeks at the daily rate. Isle of Hope is charming and was not burned down by Sherman in the Civil War. Lovely homes on bluff drive located on high ground that the American Indians used to call home are all around the marina. Very Clean facilities and store to keep Admirals happy. Secured and safe. It is a 4.5 hour drive to Atlanta. Thunderbolt has a few options if you need to get work done, but not that charming or quiet. Thunderbolt Marine has similar capabilities to Jarrett Bay. Sail Harbor would be your lower cost option on Wilmington Island, and near the ICW. No fuel or Pump Out, but a small yard that can get things fixed for you. several liveaboards. Good marine store infrastructure here and River Supply in Thunderbolt. We will still be in SC at that time, so PM me if you are headed North. hope that helps.

I always hear good things about isle of Hope but never stopped there as their fuel price is usually a bit high and for 1 or 2 night the Riverside market docks are better since you re right in the city.

But for 2 weeks Isle of Hope is your best bet

Isle of Hope is the way to go. I was there a few years back. The dockmaster drove us to dinner and the grocery store in his personal car...excellent service!

Thanks to all who responded. I think Isle of Hope sounds best, since I know the admiral would like some amenities while we're touring the area. I Passed by Thunderbolt when we did the loop last year on the 43. They come highly recommended for longer-term stays by the looper group, but Isle of Hope is probably a better bet for what we need. I'll call them tomorrow.

Mal: We plan to start north from Sanford Florida about July 1. Not sure how far north we'll get, probably not much farther than Charleston this year. Start back south mid to late August. We'll look for you along the way.
