Well for me no Kids but I have nephews and as Scott said my brothers and I spent weekends at the beach without parents and it was the Norm. For my Nephews its not the case hell my brother and I don't want to be at Davis anymore its gone done the toliet!!! What I wonder is it all gotten this bad what will it be like for grandchildren when then become of age???

Do you remember being able to go to Davis Park for a aweekend with or without your parents and they knew others in the marina would be watching out for you even if you didn't know each other. Anyone needing help would get it from strangers and friends. The worst we did as teenagers (16-19) was take advantage of the teenagers of the opposite sex and alcohol. Times have changed.

Like Mike My family didn't have a lot of money. But what we had went into a summer cottage and boating. I learned to wrench at an early age. Buying junk and fixing it. I have 6 boys and 4 girls. All the kids have motor cycles and go carts. They have 5 bicycles each. One of each type, they have RC cars, planes and boats. Jet skis, kayaks. Now a IO boat. As you can see I spoil them. But they all are deserving in my book. They all are on the honor roll at school. So as long as I can provide for them I will continue. One of the good parts (I think) is that all the boys have there own tool boxes. The girls barrow. The point is they do all there own work doing repairs. The only time I get involved is when they can't figure something out. I'm really proud of my children, none are problem children. They have a work shop and each have there boxes in there own area. But like others here I worry about what the future will bring. One boy wants to be a Coasty, one wants to be a Seal, One wants to beat the pants off Bill gates, already has a plan and one is too little to think about it. The girls, one a minister, one a school secretary, one an animal vet. The adults all have good jobs. I don't know about the future. I think these are the good years. But I think my Mother & Dad thought the same thing. Thing seam to work out. I hope.

What a great post...My son is 8 and still a bit skittish on the water. I'm taking it slow with him so he will hopefully enjoy it as much as your son!

I'm new to powerboats...grew up with small sailboats (Sunfish/Hobie). Got my first powerboat 8 years ago (22' Grady White) for fishing but quickly learned I needed more boat for offshore stuff, having never done it before.

Bought a very tired 31 Bertram and spent two years working on her...great boat. On our third year with the Hatt.

Take advantage of opposite sex and alcohol what are you talking about I am confused. Is that the same Davis Park people drank there next thing your going to start to ramble about casino's and sleeping under docks and church's.
And beside there was no taking advantage of opposite sex after enough beer they were very passionate.

That would be the place. Too bad you can't get drunk and sleep under buildings anymore. I think its a felony now. Better you try to go home in your car or boat? What are they thinking.

And to be clear I never woke on the beach after a night of drinking later than 11:30 AM. Some people were still passed out at noon.
