  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
While working on the boat in the yard, I noticed that the rudders require 2 full turns from center to STBD, and 3 full turns from center to PORT. 5 full turns total, lock to lock. I suspect this asymmetric ratio is normal?

I should be even. Probably need to adjust the rod out of the ram. 1/2 turn off is no big deal though.

Are you turning the wheel from lock to lock meaning rudder stop pad to stop pad or the length of the ram(s) bottoming out?
Before you dive into anything,, how does the boat respond in the water making way?

I've never had a problem driving it, and only happened to notice it when I was moving the rudders to give me room to work on the trim tabs. I don't see me doing anything about it, since it works just fine. I was mostly curious. As far as lock to lock, I just mean turning the wheel as far as it goes in either direction. I don't know if it is the rudder or the ram actually "stopping".
