I'm in the process of refurbishing a Yankee Boat Works dinghy that I was pretty much gifted. I took the rub railing / border trim off in order to paint the hull. Since the trim was in pretty bad shape, I committed to replacing it (ie: I threw it away).

This is a profile section of the old rub rail/border trim that I kept for reference.

The bottom part slides up onto the down-turned lip of the fiberglass edge and the top part lays flat on the top of the gunnel and was attached with rivets. The dimensions are about 1.75" high x 1" wide.

I've spend the last several days scouring the internet trying to find a source for this style but have had zero luck. It doesn't seem that the manufacturer, Yankee Boat Works, is still around or at least I haven't been able to find a number or website.

Any ideas on where I might find some or what you would actually call it. I've tried every combination of rub rail, vinyl edging, rubber edging, vinyl trim, rubber trim, flexible vinyl molding, etc that I can think of but no joy.

It is stiff from weathering but it appears to be vinyl or PVC. I need about 20 feet of it.

Thanks

20 something years ago I was restoring a Pequod 34. Could not find the rub rail. I contacted Taco Marine to see if there was a way to make any of their stuff work.
Well, They had the rub rail I was searching for. Not a usual catalogued item.

Before you start looking at my second idea (Dock Bumper), give those kids a call.
You may have to e-mail them that pic with dimensions.

You may want to just also start calling some northern eastern boat yards. They may have a few ideas.

Thanks Captain. I had looked through pretty much everything I could find from Taco Marine, but I'll try giving them a call tomorrow.
