What would be the symptoms of leaking casting plugs? My starboard engine runs fine while underway (no hesitation, missing, etc) but has excessive exhaust while warming up at the dock. I thought it was probably a "too rich" setting but am wondering if it might be these casting plugs. I have no idea when and if there was a rebuild.

Thanks

What about when warm at idle? Is there any fuel dripping into the intake? Shut the 2 jets completely and see if it stalls.

The casting plugs leaking will show no signs of leakage or anything else that can be observed - they will just run rich. All Qjets should have the casting plugs epoxied as part of NORMAL maintenance. Do it as part of the carb rebuild whether you think it needs it or not (it does).

Again - you will not SEE anything by observing the carb when running. The casting plug leaks will generally NOT produce fuel visibly dripping anywhere - internally or externally. It will normally occur BELOW the butterflies and will not be visible in any way.

Also, depending on the amount of leakage, it might ONLY be apparent at idle/low speed and not so much at higher throttle openings.
