i've been thinking about a few projects to tackle during the months off season(winter). one project that has me a little stumped is the best way to restore the anodized aluminum tube for the hardtop(1/2 tower). the tubing has seen many years of salt pitting and discoloring. my plan is to restore the aluminum and then replace the fabric cover. i'd like to avoid $$$ having a new hardtop made if this one can be saved and look really nice.
just yesterday i saw a 2014 wellcraft center console with a t-top that was painted white from the factory and that looked sharp. it is hard for me to visualize that on my convertible. has anyone gone this route or a different technique?
has anyone converted their fabric cover to a hard type skin(fiberglass??) just looking for some feedback/direction.
thank you....
