FWIW, last year I gave my sunbleached afro a light sanding and a couple coats of Epiphanes varnish - not the stain - and it came out great. It looks just like the interior stuff that the sun has not hit. The first coat soaked right in and the second coat sealed it very nicely.

Bob, did you have varnish or oil on the area? And did you sand just to scuff the surface or sand to bare wood? I'm asking because I have an area at the entrance that must have been partly covered in the past and it is darker than what surrounds it. It is finished in oil, and I'd like to make it uniform. Just adding oil doesn't help.
