I've got some of this tape and have used it successfully with water leaks, even under pressure. Didn't work worth a flip, though, on a very small diesel leak.
 
Was that "The Bird"?

Am sure no tape could stop Randy once the grey goose kicks in...
 
We were using a tape similar to that at work. It was non sticking. You needed to overlap the tape before it would hold. It was an amalgamating tape and would only stick to it's self. In the process it would shrink some making it water proof. It was great for water proofing electrical splices. It really held and was hard to get off. The tape just melted together into each rap. I'm not sure its the same type, but it looks similar. It would not stick on anything. It needs to be wrapped around it's self.
