I am considering replacing the original Modern Maid oven and rangetop. Any suggestions as what is the best fit for replacements? Going to replace the galley countertops also. Thanks Skater

If you re redoing the counter top you may as well put a glass top and separate oven for a modem look. There is thread on glass cooktop.
When I redid the valley on my 53 I put in a two burner cooktop which saves space as we never need more than two burners. I m using a GE microwave / convection oven which I like. Again, saves space

If you do decide to switch the cooktop out consider selling the parts to fellow Hatteras members on this site. I know that alot of people look for cooktop parts from time to time. I agree with the glass top burners.

If you want a complete stove and oven, we just put in a 5 burner 2 oven range with a small oven on top and a Large oven that is convection on bottom. Came from Sears, there is a picture in my gallery photos. John ps was a lot of fun getting in the boat, over 300 lbs. took 4 guys.

Thanks for the info so far. I have to keep the dishwasher under the stovetop

I replaced my MM with a glass Miele cooktop and a Fischer and Paykel drawer dishwasher below. Above the cooktop I went with a GE spacesaver micro/convection oven.

We're pretty happy with the Convection microwave and simple professional 2 burner electric cooking top we have. When we do not need the cooktop I simply stow it in the cabinet we built-in next to the Bosch dishwasher. Clean look on the counter too. I think we have galley photos in our gallery here.

The cooktop is like a professional omelette cook top you would see in a restaurant or at Sunday brunch at the Yacht Club. $65 on Amazon. When it "cooks", you buy another, simple. We have never really needed more than two burners we've found, even when entertaining, and even then, the caterers would bring their own, or another if we were going "all out".

I split the 220 feeding the old Galley Maid. One Circuit just for the big Convection Microwave, and the "other side" for the cooktop. Easy.

Looking forward to your photos.
