Anybody know where I can pick up a cheap rental car in the Lauderdale area for MIBS?

It would seem Valentine's Day results in major price gouging as I was quoted more than 5 times what I paid Enterprise for a car just two weeks ago. I thought maybe I could go the Rent A Wreck route but they don't have any cars until after the first of March. If there are any other used car rental outfits in that area I can't seem to find them.

It not the V-day driving up the price it presidents week and almost everyone is going to Fl.

Thanks for the link George. If their rates are as shown on their website, you just saved me a ton of money. I'll give them a call and confirm tomorrow. BTW, should I mention you as having referred me? They have a category asking that question and maybe I can get you some brownie points if this thing works out. Heck, if this does work out I'll buy you a sack full of brownies. :)

Dan, I forgot about Presidents Day being Monday, but the rental folks tell me Valentines Day is indeed the culprit. Nothing like a three day week-end to screw up rates.

Yeah not so much 3 days weekend but a lot of schools off for the week so Family's are heading down so that means Bend over!!!

carrentals.com type in fll best deals

Sure you can, 'cept I don't eat brownies. We only used them once or twice until I could fly back to New Bern and get my car. The car rental .com is a good idea too. It still doesn't seem as busy as last year, so maybe something will pop.

Oh well, so much for that idea. Seems these folks jump on the price gouge bandwagon like the national outfits do. I actually have a friend who has offered me the use of his pick up truck, but if the Gold Coast folks would have honored their published rate I would have gone with them anyway. To their credit, they were a little cheaper than anybody else, but they still wanted over $400 for a cracker box.

Thanks for trying there George, I'll give you a cookie or something when I see you at the raft up Saturday. Same deal for you Jeff if you can make it. :)
