I need to get the center windshield frame out to make a repair to it. This is the section that opens out. I can see no hinge at the top. Does anyone know how to get it out?

I received no responses to this request. Maybe no-one has had to remove this thing.

I went to the boat today, took the glass out and started fooling around with the frame. I finally got it out by opening the window just far enough to get a flat pry bar between the inside frame and the main frame at the top at one end, then applying continuous, steady outward pressure. It pryed up slowly because there is a gasket at the top that tends to stick to the frame and hold it together. Opening the window more than an inch engages the lip at the top of the opening frame in a groove in the main frame making it impossible to get it out. Having the glass out really helped.

Hopefully this info will prove useful to the next person who has to perform this task.

That's interesting to know Bill. My boat is 50 miles away and because of 14 inches of snow. I am unable to go there and check out my windshield. I have been trying to think how mine comes out since you posted. Glad you got it out OK.

You did well. I called Hatteras in 1995 to find out how to get mine out. They told me more or less what you did but it never worked for me...lost my nerve when prying!
