Mine doesn’t have it. Could be the year or possibly the PO took them off

My 63 CPMY doesn't have it. I've never seen it before on a Hatteras

I like the way that looks! I’m going to be painting the hall as my next project and I could do the doors at the same time. I’ll give removal a try and see what holds it on. I hope just paint and some brads, but it’s probably glued too.

Mine has that same trim.

Nope. As to how I would remove it..... Doubt you can save it, as I bet money its glued on. Offset flat blade on oscillating tool. Then lots of sanding filling and fairing.

Looks like quite a bit of work to do this. :( Then again, older boats are quite a bit of work no matter where you turn.

I was thinking of using a sharp chisel, by hand, to split and remove the molding. Then a cabinet scraper to remove the glue and remaining wood. Then sand, fill, sand and paint by rolling and tipping some Interlux Brightsides.
It going to be a lot of work and I’ll get the walls in the hallway done first before tackling the doors.

Send photos before during and after the project starts.

Had the same doors. The same problem. And the same ambitions. Ended up keeping it. Sanded the trim and painted the trim on the doors. Once that was done, with it looking nice, that feeling of wanting it gone went away.

I have it on my doors, but also on engine access panels in central passageway. My plan is clean it and paint it. But leaving it in place.
