  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
45' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1968 - 1975)
I spent saturday morning removing the doors and the rear "grating" and my cabinetry doors and the refrigerator "inards (lighten the load)", so as to remove the original refrigerator from my 1970 45C. What a pain in the ____ !! I have everything out but the basic box and will use my son and a few of his friends to gey that out. Question is ... how do folks get the same size regrigerator back in ? I disected this thing and at one point even borrowed a "sawzall", but didn't resort to using it. Are folks going with smaller units? My walkway is 22" wide with the handrail off. What has been the standard with this pain in butt replacement.
Was never a fan of galley-up, but now ... hmmm.

The problem you're going to run into is that the newer refers, due to the wonderful government, have more insulation and thus are DEEPER than the original.

The original size in height and width simply will not fit due to depth. End of discussion.

HOWEVER, I found one that DID fit at Home Depot. It was slightly shorter, but had similar interior capacity.

My 45C is a 1985 though, which is a different hull series than yours....

Take measurements and go shopping. Make sure your measurements are EXACT. I got the new one in removing nothing more than the doors, but it was not easy - a very, very tight fit.

I have a 44TC. Just found a new frig at Sears which fit in the old spot. Had to put it through the starboard window with less than 1/16" clearance.

What model number is your new fridge from Sears? Thanks.

getting it into the salon is one thing ... I have a galleydown boat. The stairway with the handrail and the cabinet doors off is only about 22" wide. I'm looking at apartment sized refrigerators and having some woodwork done. Maybe a wine rack !

My boat is galley down too.

The new refer fit. There is no point to a deeper one, as it won't go in the nook either....

With the railing off it JUST cleared (remove the door from the new fridge too)
