Refinishing electronics Boxes

We have 2 electronics boxes on either side of the helm on the fly bridge. One is natural wood the other has been painted white. We have decided we like the wood better. What is the best way to strip the one with paint?

I was going to try it where it is as I do not know how hard it is to get off.

Probably mask around it and start with a heat gun on low or medium, and a scraper. You'll get some other suggestions. That might be the neatest way- stripper would be faster, or sanding, but messy.
