Does anyone have any current info on Dinner Key Marina. I know Pascal is a denizen and I did pm him but no reply. I just wanted to know whether it is again completely operational with all slips repaired. Secondly, is the waiting list beyond the pale? We were there for 2 years and are considering a return...seasonal or annual.

Thx

Sorry i never seem to see PMs

Not much has been repaired at DKM since the storm... that s governemnt run business for you. It took 6 momths to get the street lights repaired outside the piers, another 3 months to get garbage cans on the dock and that's pretty much it. I had to repair the lights on the pedestal next to my boat myself so we could see the Tee head coming in at night...

Half of the 600 slips are unusable and empty and the marina is closed to transients and montly, costing the city about $400k a month in lost revenue... They only kept the annual contracts. Afaik they dont even add anyone to the wait list.

Yet in a stroke of bureaucratic genius, the city just passed a rate increase. Now $5 a foot for transients. They ve also increased monthly and annual rates, although not liveaboards.

Apparently the city has used insurance money on other city projects and his waiting on fema funds...

Good luck finding dockage anywhere in miami. Everything else is pretty much full.

Thank you, Pascal.
I don't understand the City's inaction nor its approach to pricing. Some cities price just for cost recovery---revenue neutral--- to support and promote tourism. Obviously not the philosophy of Miami or Miami-Dade. Again....thank you for rrsponding.

My slip has one broken piling amidship (stub just sticking out at low tilde and two rotten pilings. That’s not storm damage, that’s just rot. I can’t use them as they are so rotted I m afraid they ll snap. Luckily I m inside the Tee head and i have cleats Inca tie too.

One of the commissioner refused to vote for a public parking increase unless the city raised the marina rates as well...

And of course with half the slips unusable they kept the same number of staff. When you go to the office they re all sitting there, surfing the web and just “chilling” while trash cans are overflowing

Pascal, I having doing so well lately. Now you post stuff like this and I am sad again.

Don’t blame you, you’re just the messenger. My favorite Cheeto had me feeling good about paying my fair share and now this. Sad how any level of government wastes the money we send in.

Carry on, I’ll be ok. Rum and coke will get me to the next day.

I found a great marina on the river. But there's no space available right now. Should be a spot opening in a couple months. We love it here. Brackish water is great for the bottom and for my pockets. We will get cleaned every 4 to 6 months and paint every few years.

Pm me if interested

The river can a rough neighborhood... and even with antennas down you have 2 to 3 bridges to get to open

I have to open 9 bridges to get out. Takes an hour or so. Neighborhood isn't that great either but we're in a gated marina. Feels disconnected from the surroundings except when we leave. All in all, we've weighed our options and like it here so far. Most of the residents here have been here for years and love it.

With antennas down you should be able to clear Brickell, Miami ave, 2nd ave, 12th and 27th street

That may be true. But I have 6 antennas and I have outriggers. Not worth the work. I just get em up. Timing is everything on the river.

My stern light is at 24 ft. I have a custom hard top that is 22 ft.

I clear all of the above with an 84’ skylounge that has a 25’ Air draft except at dead high tide.

Big fines nowadays if you don’t lower antennas and outriggers. You may get away with it a few times but eventually they ll mail you. Traffic is mess in Miami, no excuse for making it worst and they have stepped up enforcement.

Exactly right.
