  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
One of my engine room blowers constantly trips the circuit breaker as soon as it's turned on. Anyone know of a place that I an send it to for a rebuild? Or anyone have a working 32v blower they want to sell?

I have one you can have, PM me a telephone # to set up a delivery.

I bought one from Sams a few years ago. They are pricey.

I wonder how long a 24v blower would last being run at 32v? They are fairly cheap...

Only 1 way to find out.....

If JM comes through I guess we'll never know, but if I have to buy one, I think I'll give a 24v one a try...SO much cheaper. Many (most?) electric motors seem to run fine overpowered, to a point...the question is where is that point for a 24v blower? lol

A DC motor is gonna run 50% faster and 50% shorter... ws

Any reason why these blowers trip the circuit breaker? Is that just the way they crap out? I got a bad one that could be replaced as well. StormChaser - any chance it was your port blower? Any other 32V blowers out there? If not, I might be the 24v guinea pig...

Mine was the port blower.

As a matter of a fact, yes, it is the port. And it clearly has been replaced before (spliced wiring).

hum.... Begs the question why. Same blower trips the breaker here (and I thought is was just a burned out light bulb at the station).

Not sure, but the starboard one has been replaced as well. Seems like they just die fairly regularly.

Sam's has someone that builds the 32V motor they aren't crazy expensive. A 24V could be used with a resistor to knock down the voltage. But you would need a pretty good size one to handle the amps and you would have to figure out the OHMs. I've replaced one and the smartest solution was the 32V from Sam's.

I know I can get them from Sams...but was hoping for a less expensive solution...seems like I have found it. Oh, by the way, typing in all caps is considered rude and is the same as yelling...not sure if you knew that or not.

Let us know what you end up doing.

Wow, calm down. I wasn't getting angry or bitchy...I was passing along information. Notice that his username is also in Caps other than the first letter? Seems like his computer may be stuck in caps and I was simply letting him know that it is considered the same as yelling. I wasnt being critical of him personally...just passing along some info...I even mentioned that he may not have been aware...not a big deal Brian, chill dude...
