Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
does anyone know a place I can send in the motor to my head to have it rebuilt....it is a raritan xcm32 and not original equipment. It clicks but doesn't spin to flush the toilet...I've taken it apart to see if I could get it to spin but it won't so I'm pretty sure it is frozen up and needs to be rebuilt. Any suggestions of rebuilder that people have used before? also, any idea roughly what the cost is? THanks!

Raritan has an exchange program. You send your old one in and they send you a remanufactured unit. Raritan isn't cheap but you can call them and get a quote or go on their website. They are located in Millville NJ or at least I think they are there. Good luck.

Are you looking for one of these? Its new and 32 VDC... pm me for details ws

Raritan has a website where they show the prices for a rebuilt lower unit. You can purchase a rebuilt lower unit from the website. (For a 12 VDC Crown it was $550.00) You pay an additional $125.00 to $150.00 until they receive your core that needs to be rebuilt. They then will issue a credit for the $125 to $150 once they receive your core. Bad news - expensive, Good news is that you get a new warranty and you know the rebuild is done right.

damn...of course it is tons of dough! Yachtsmanbill....I'll inspect mine more closely and then PM you....they look the same with the exception that mine is pretty old! that and the impeller looks different. thanks for responses

For what it's worth, about eight years ago I bought a complete new 12volt Raritan Crown head (bowel and lower unit) and a separate rebuilt lower unit/motor at the same time for my other head. The NEW one just failed; the rebuilt one is still running fine. My guess is they were run about the same amount but I can't be sure. Go figure....

Someone with a commercial account can perhaps get a Raritan factory rebuilt unit at less than standard retail...my local mechanic just told me to order through him and he'd pass along a break....(or maybe I was hoodwinked!).
