  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
Will be splashing "Bout Time" and heading south for the winter after having spent all summer on the Hard. Do I have my seasons screwed up???

Anyone around the Hampstead NC area moving south ?? I should be underway by noon on 10-24 assuming the Deisel God gives the "start blessing" to these old Detroit's.

We are in Southport NC today. Debating on an early start south, but there are some storms rumbling around in the Carib and Gulf. My windstorm deductible goes to 50% of hull value if I'm below Hatteras before Nov. 1. Decision time in a day or two once they work out the storm tracks.

Hey Ron,
Hope yall have a good trip. I wont be back on the boat till Thursday. I will miss seeing yall and hearing the rack and scrape songs you learned from the Bahamas. Maybe I'll be in the Bahamas next year for the winter.

Where are you in Southport. I'm tied into Provision Company for the next couple of days.

Well, we spashed today but then disaster. Put the boat in reverse to back out of the Haul Out Slip and the boat went forward hitting some metal and putting a dent in the bow. The yard had reversed my reconditioned props when they put them on. They were very apologetic and will make it right, however I'm here for another three to four days while they make repairs. Despite going thru several levels of fiberglass the damage did not penetrate into the hull, built em stout back then.

Bob, looks like you'll beat me to Florida, however with the storm I'm probably better off right here. At this point it looks like S. Florida may be the only place that could take a hit, but may be a little premature to make that call.

Hey Pate take a look at my last comment , I'm still in Hampstead for another 3-4 days so we may get to have a beer yet.

Ron,

I'm watching Rina carefully too and will not leave here until they have a good fix on it's course. If it will run up the coast, I have to hightail it back north of Hatteras for insurance purposes.

George (GJH) and I are taking the ferry to Bald Head Fri. night. If we get there early we'll take a walk down the dock and say hey.

Hey Hatt Fellows,
I will be back on the boat at Deep Point marina Thursday Noon. I have taken all the canvas down
and had some seams re stiched and isinglass replaced. I will put it back on Thursday. I have to work Fri and Sat night (bummer). However, will try to look yall up. If yall come by deep Point look me up. The nightly trans fee is 1.14/ft with boat US card. We have the very best marina in Southport.
Dang Ron, that stinks about the props. How could that happen? I bet they are sorry...yikes !!

Well Pate, true is I should have noticed it myself . I was under the boat and glanced at the props long enough to be sure they had been installed appropriately, can't understand why I didn't notice they were on wrong. However, a very experienced tow captain has his boat across from mine and inspected my props because he has same engines as me 8/71'S and he didn't notice it either, and he closely inspected the job of reconditioning I had done as he wants his wheel tuned, so go figure.

Guess I won't get to visit with you as you have to work, we may get down your way Thursday night, I'll let you know.

Well, Ron how'd it go? Are you still coming down past Southport? I told the HarbourMaster to look out for you.

Bobk, I went looking for you today and didnt see ya. Have you left yet?

I was docked Sunday night at the free city pier in the basin, then moved to Provision Company and left Thursday. Lost the drive for the port tach/Glerndinning and went back to St. James Marina for repairs. We pulled out this morning and are in Osprey Marina ($3.49 fuel, free pumpout). Sorry I missed you.

I stopped Friday Night at Deep Point, but you were working, Left Saturday about noon, never did see your truck. Didn't want to stop by the boat and wake you.

Yes, Jesse told me bout you staying there over night. Sorry I didnt see yall. I would have loved to hear that rack and scrape music one more time. My truck was in the parking lot. When I woke up yall were gone. Heck I didnt even notice someone was at the fuel dock. Maybe we'll get together on the way back up or something. Hope everything goes well.
