  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
36' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1969 -1977)
Some may remember some time ago I asked about changing out gas for diesles! Whell we started. I put some pics in tech section of the progress so far!

Very nice looking boat!!! what diesels are you putting in? I remember all of this vividly and feel the pain. It was a long process and parts of it were difficult. Would like to see photos of the new engines in place etc.
So many of the 36 boats have been converted to diesels that I wonder how many of them are left with the original-style gas engines. I suspect not too many...but there's no way to do a head count.

Yeah, I saw a couple of 36s with diesels before I bought Gig. If the pricing had been more reasonable, I might have owned one instead of my 45C, but man, people are proud of those boats.

Not without reason, to be sure! Darn nice machines... with new-tech diesels I bet she both flies and is MUCH more social....

I saw Kathy L on saturday afternoon. We were comming back from Pecs lake and i noticed her so we pulled in to your area. Very nice looking boat.

Jim, We went with Cummins QSB 5.9 330 H.P. and SmartCraft display with electronic throttle/shift. This is what sterted the project. Now it's side windows, sofa, Phasor 8kw gen, head, shafts and wheels, 6" silencers, had to go to 2" and 1" thru hull's and strainers, one new AC unit etc.etc.etc!!! Kathy removed all the cabnet doors and drawers sanded, 2 coats of polyurethane. Now she's working on the rest of the wood work.
34c, We are in the Hobe Sound area and keep the boat at the Corinthain Yacht Club. The boat has been at our shop since the end of April. The boat you saw on Sat. may have been Mike36c's boat, they are the same color.
I'LL add pics of the progress and I'm sure I'll need input from the forum as we go. Thanks in advance, John.

We have a 67 34c, palm city, Riverwatch Marina. . The boat we saw was a 36 painted fighting lady yellow, beautiful job, no rail, custome bow pulpit, appears a little of flair was added to prow. we did not dock or get out to look close. this boat was first boat inside of the canal off of the ICW. I think this was most likely the best looking 36 that i have ever seen , partial to the fighting lady yellow, ours is same color.

My cousin, brother and I tested a theroy that we could surf behind the boat with no rope, and we did, kept up for about half a mile.

34c, That's Mikey's, the Kathy L doesn't have a pulpit. We went lookilng for your boat to check out the side windows. You had mentioned Waterway Systems in a pervious post. They delivered ours last week!

we dont have new side windows yet, only new front ones. I want to try for the side ones in the fall.

where are you doing your work. We need a place to go, our marina does not allow us to work there. We are going to need a place to go to do side windows and to paint the top side. I want to apply the Awlgrip myself. have spray guns and compressor that will run of the boat's gen.

We had her trucked to our shop in Jupiter. The half tower had to come off due to height. There are a couple of yards down in Palm Beach, The Ways and Cracker Boys, that let you do work. I'm not sure of any up here. Let me know if you find any! John.

Salerno boat works in the Pocket is a do it yourself yard.
