Our 48MY has a new and larger exhaust system.
The original configuration was designed (I'm told) for 671N's and when Hatteras offered 6V92TA's they didn't increase the exhaust pipe size
, just added a diverter for part of the cooling water. After enlarging the exhaust system, the yard left the diverters in place and seem to have shut down most or all of the flow from the port diverter, but not the starboard. On our trip, I'm noticing the lockers that the exhausts run through on the starboard side are hotter than the port and there is a really significant flow of discharge water from the diverter thu-hull on the starboard. I'm inclined to shut this valve down and send all the water out the exhaust piipes. Can anyone see a reason not to?
