Anyone have any experience with these type of rails? This is the first I've seen them. Another 41 owner says he has seen them and claims they can add 1.5 kts and reduce roll.
I was considering those a couple years ago. Then I was down at Lauderdale Marine Center and saw a diver in the haul out well blocking a boat with them installed prior to positioning the slings for a haul out. Haul outs are painful enough ($$$$) for me without adding that to the mix. So I punked out. But I have heard some folks get some stern lift out of them and that's what I need.
With fuel the way it is I'm not doing a lot of planing or "attempted planing" these days anyway. Thx.
I have them added them years back! I really didn't see a different except drier boat.
You don't need a diver for haul outs that's crazy! I just made up some blocks that slip on and stay in place. All you need is the blocks and a boat hook.
I saw a 41 being outfitted in Cape May by Dave Wrigley at the Canyon Club a few years ago. Dave can be reached at 609-884-0333. I believe he indicated it really helped the boat, but the boat had been recently repowered. Dave can give you the straight scoop. Tom Slane @ slane Marine may as well.
I can save you a phone call, the scoop is you can do two of the same boats one you will see a big difference the other you may not!!!
That is what Steve McPherson from Sam's told me! And I have talked to Tom Slane and many many others about this and the all agree. There is NO guarantee you will see a difference.
