I was surprised to learn that after the Chicago to Mac Race and BYC to Mac race, those sailors who wanted more sailing, held the following rendezvous in Cheboygan, MI.

Its only 3-4 miles out into Lake Huron and you can run up to Spectacle Reef and back in a good day. Otherwise where they go I don't know. Maybe out to the big red buoy in the commercial center of Straits Channel.
