  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' YACHT FISHERMAN (1970 - 1981)
I keep finding big smelly brown Racoon droppings on my sundeck. Any ideas as to how to get rid of these pests ?

Antifreeze or .22 cal do not make too much mess :D

Friends of ours have had such problems, including destroying cushions, etc. They called a local pest control agency and they came out and live trapped them, then took the beasties 20 miles away and released them. Problem solved!

In CT you have to be careful with that. Neighbor caught one of those midnight bandits in a Havaheart trap. Took the critter to a State park for release. Park ranger saw it and gave him a $150 ticket.

I guess it would have been cheaper to shoot the little guy.

OK, so live trap them and and release them 3' away (down) after 10 minutes or so.

Sorry to say it but the best way to deal with a problematic coon is kill it and its friends! They are nasty little critters.

I hear they make good chum.

In the state of Ohio any live caught pest must be destroyed. They are not to be transported due to disease. Live trap them. Then see how long they can hold there breath. I had them on my 21ft fishing boat and so did my brother what a mess they maid. Revenge was mine.:D

We had feral cats in the Keys. Pans of houshold ammonia placed at the entrance points would keep them away. May be an interim solution for coons too??

Try A Couple Of Boxes Of Moth Balls. They Worked Well On Some Other Pests And Got Rid Of Whatever Was Living Under My Shed Quicly. A Lot Easier To Pick Up And Get Rid Of When You Are Done Than Amonia.
