I thought mold wouldn't grow on nylon....Well, there is this white stringy stuff on my stored ropes and its gotta' go.

So, am i correct that bleach shouldn't be used on nylon? If so, what can I use to kill it?

Mold will grow on any organic substrate. All you need is moisture >55% RH, temp between 50-110F, absence of direct sunlight & breeze, and some dead organic material.

The Mold is not eating nylon, just the crud on the nylon.

So, how to clean??? Easiest thing I can think of is next trip out, drag the line behind you in seawater for 20 minutes. You will retrieve spotlessly clean line.

You are correct on bleach. Don't use it for this application.

I wash my lines in the washing machine each winter. No bleach, just detergent and a healthy dose of fabric softener. They come out looking and feeling like new.
