So I have this other thread going with the core replacement. I was wondering if folks had their pulpits removed and then, what they used to replace the plywood under the pulpit between the deck and pulpit.
Has anyone used foam? Coosa? Or is this one of those lay down the plywood soaked in epoxy deals?

And then I need to know how to generate the anti skid. It looks like a small diameter bubble deal to me.

Core replacement i know nothing. Non skis is in a bucket in small areas it can be brushed big places bow cockpit spray. Do not roll it you will be doing it again. Be sure to sand old,

Actually I am thinking of pulling the wood, sanding it down and repainting the whole pulpit. Once the new paint is down I was planning on anti-skid in the recess.

I rebuilt mine in 03. Rebuilt the pulpit with fir plywood soaked in epoxy. I don't like core materials where fastinings are going to be used. They often compress and do not hold fasteners.
Removed the teak inlay and painted the pulpit. Then installed new teak held in place with 5200. I did not want any holes to let water in. Also made a drain hole on either side should any water get under the pulpit.

The best I have used is this process: prime, paint on one or two coats of Awlgrip. Dust on dry powder 'Shark Skin' while the last layer is still wet. Let is dry to tack or a little more. Blow off any non-adhered dust, then paint on another thinned coat of Awlgrip to seal and provide a washable surface. It will look great and grip feet or shoes like sand paper. Shark Skin comes from a paint store, Glidden if memory serves.

Dan,

Did you make the picture off "Slow an Easy"? mine is soft in the same places just not that Large. Under the pulpit is not soft at all however and there are angle braces below deck. I have had my son (6'5" and 285 lbs) out on the pulpit jumping and it is not flexing at all from below. Is it possible this area was repaired earlier?

I was thinking of working around the pulpit and using foam core. My surveyor called this a "feature" of the DC series. He said most of them are soft there.
