My new dinghy is a triump 12' Hard Rib that is replacing my 13' whaler on a '68 Constellation. The original davit is a marquipt aluminum fixed angle manual swivel davit with a grolo 110v winch. The issue is clearance with the new dinghy in that the davit isn't high enough, I need about 5 more inches to do it easily. My question is can a fabricator make a new davit with a higher clearance angle that would work for this situation without having to spend thousands of dollars to get it done. I would like to re-use the winch.

Here is a pic of the the boat, if you zoom in you can see the existing davit end.

Beautiful Connie!! Have you telephoned Marquipt yet? Marquipt offers 'extensions' for the booms on their TenderLifts and may have something or fabricate something for you for much less than a major change could cost. I'd talk with them and send them clear photographs of your challenge.

Thanks, will be calling them Monday. Hopefully there is a reasonable cost solution.

I may be missing the point here, but wouldn't an extension to the mounting pole be an option? That wouldn't cost much from a good welder.

I agree. Raise the mounting pole and you should be in good shape.

Raising the pole is definitely the plan. The existing pole has a flange covering the standpipe and a smaller id pipe slipping down inside the standpipe. I'm assuming it should be as simple as cutting off the flange lengthening the base where there is no angle and welding a new flange in place. I'll see what the fabricator says. Thanks for the help.
