Well US and world economies are being brough to their knees. Economies were on the edge for years but I believe price of oil put the nail in the coffin. Well Just saw that OPEC is going to make some large cuts in production. Guess they have the only means of economic immunity. Just turn off the valve and let the world squirm some more.

You know there will never be oil independence. With the size of our economy and amount of fuel we burn, there is no way we can produce enough of anything to feed this beast. There are no good sources of alternative energy out there at least that will fuel transportation. I guess coal, nuke, wind and solar will have to be beefed up and made more efficient in order to have a source to power electric cars and an ever increasing electric society. Electric cars are expensive.

BMW is leasing ELectric Mini Coopers for 850/month which includes lease and service. These appear to be a pilot program car, or a way to do R&D and have the consumer pay for it.

It's time to cut food, technology and other raw material exports to the OPEC countries.

Come on DC get a pair of balls. They are not our friends. They are terrorists

I totally agree... I'd like to see them eat sand and drink their oil.

While I'm sure that there are plenty of cases where it can be shown that there has been some exploitation, but even then, these oil economies are much better off mostly because of the US. Some people are always put upon, including most of the common citizens of the OPEC countries. However, we are not the bad guys - let them look at their leaders and ask them why they haven't used more of their new found wealth to improve the average person's life. Their leaders and I mean all of them are greedy miserable bastards who don't give a damn about their own people and pass the blame onto the western countries who have made them rich in the first place.

I think we need to give Israel all the support we can and let them clean house once and for all. They seem to be the only one's left with the resolve and plain balls to do it.

Damn I am mad as hell - enough already

Walt

I agree with Walt. There will be no peace until someone WINS. Let them go at it!!!!!!!!!

Give Israel what they need to clean up the mess. Keep B Hussein out of the white house or the opposite will happen.

Oil is trading at $67/barrel! I filled up for $2.42/gallon (gasoline) today. I may get to fill the boat up soon!

I filled the boat 2 weeks ago @ 3.58/gal . I guess I should have waited!

I took 100 gallons at $3.75 nearly three weeks ago because my wholesale fuel supplier actually TOLD me to wait to fill up! He said everything he was hearing from the refineries and within the industry said that oil was going to keep coming down for the near future. Oil was $80/barrel then, so I guess he was right!

The market economy is whack in the US, due to significant interference from government forces. If a true market economy would emerge ,then the various forces would produce viable fuel alternatives at acceptable prices. There is massive reserves of coal shale out west, natural gas, oil, etc. But instead we have the insane ethonal support pricing, wind turbines, etc. Economists has a term called "the theory of replacement". It happened when cars replaced the horse and buggy and train steam engines were replaced by diesels. The invisible hand of the marketplace. But today there are major dis-locations due to the gov. Maybe major global corporations (and government entities, other that our own) play a role as well, as they try to bend the market to their will.

In the mean time, we allow other countries to produce mass quantities of pollution that there is no way that we can offset. Just when it dawns on the american electorate that they are about to get hosed bigtime will be interesting to see. I call it the "honeymoon". BO gets is, the press and the left wet themselves and this goes on for 3-5 months. Then reality sets in...something will blow somewhere! Maybe BO will look Putin in the eye and into his heart and find him even more kinder and gentler that Bush did.

I am trying to be facetious, but I don't think that's possible!
