Well tomorrow we Americans can enjoy the privilege of witnessing an orderly transfer of power as most of have many times in the past. This time however will be an American First which makes me proud to be lucky enough to be born in the greatest country on the face of the earth. Some of you probably know he wasn't my choice but tomorrow he will be my president and I sincerely hope he proves me wrong and turns out to be one of the best we've had.

Brian

I agree Brian. But my expectations are much less than are most of those who voted for him.

This time around the President will certainly be able to claim all of the credit for his accomplishments as there is no opposition party with any power to stand in his way. He will also have no one to blame for any failures.

This is truly an historic event. I just wish the first black President was a conservative.

Me too! And it would be nice if his cabinet was not a deja vu Clinton cabinet.

That said, I will give him a chance and hope he does well.
I do think that it is positive that he is inspiring people who never cared about government or American history or pride of being an American. This shows kids that if they put their minds to something that anything is possible.
Maybe they will develop loftier goals and not want to be a gang banger.

President Obama has his work cut out for him. Lets pray for wisdom and strength and that he does what is right.

I wish him the best of luck and he will need it. Obama made a lot of outrageous claims to get himself elected that won't be forgotten, but as the great Casey Stengel said "It ain't a brag if you can do it!" .

I didn't vote for him either, but the hype he is responsible for is unbelievable. Now that he has been elected he is my president also. That's the way we do it here in America!!:)

Gentlemen:

I was an elected delegate to the Republican National Convention for Senator McCain, a great American. However, I think that President elect Obama ran a much better campaign, is clearly a very bright man, and has handled himself well. I have written President Bush and thanked him for his dedicated service to the country.

I am very optimistic, as you should be too, that President elect Obama will be an outstanding president. Sometimes through all of the noise of a campaign, the American voters make a solid decision. Let's all move beyond our fears about our new president and support him. This county needs to pull together and think positively.

I just returned from the UAE and Europe. They are all look to this country for leadership, admire us, and are optimistic about our new president. We should be too.

Agreed as posted above. I didn't vote for him, but I wish him all the best.

We all done being "nice"? We're in the middle of a major resicision and how much is this circus costing the tax payer? I think I heard what 100 mil? Well with that i'll put away the soap box. Bill

I guess it's part of the "spend our way out of this" mentality that will most likely continue under the new administration. Misguided as it is, that's what you get when you re-elect the same turkeys to Congress over and over again.

I heard $150 mil. :( But I'm in agreement with the above sentiments. I wish him well.

What's really driving me nuts though is the way the liberal news media is piddling all over itself like an over-excited puppy. I can't even turn on the TV any more.

I'm just a small business guy but it really does seem to me if you really wanted to make a statement I would have started right there. When you're broke at my level, you stop spending on what I would consider a luxury. Maybe scale it back to 20 0r 30 million. I can't believe I said that. If it was me a quick put your hand on the bible, ok your president now lets go to work. Yea I know a real idiot, but thats what I think, well maybe in my little world. Bill

it's a 150M circus for the arrival of the new Messiah... kind of funny when 4 years ago dems. where complaining about the cost of the 2004/2005 inauguration which cost a fraction of this.

in all fairness though, this is all mostly fund raiser financed so it's not costing the tax payers much and the money is reinjected right away in the economy.

Still, considering the state of the economy and with so many people loosing their jobs and stugling to keep their home, there is something almost indecent about spending so much money on a party.

although maybe this new Messiah will inspire the less productive and most destructive segment of our society to get to work for a change... who knows.

Does anybody else feel like they're watching an episode of "American Idol"? It's really funny how this election seemed to mirror that show.

I wish him well, but I'm not sure we would agree on the meaning of "well" as it pertains to his policies. Maybe a simple God bless America is the most appropriate statement.

Interesting... they just announced our new President as Barack H. Obama.

yep... wanna bet he's suddenly going to use his middle name during the oath?

That will be interesting for sure. I missed it... did Biden announce his middle name during his swearing in?

Earlier they said he was going to use his middle name in an effort to extend an olive branch to the Muslims.

Barack Hussein Obama

bingo... barrack HUSSEIN obama...

aint that nice... what an hypocrit

I wonder if he'll sing our national anthem after the speech?
