  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
I am looking at a 43 DCMYFB with 6-71 naturals. What kind of speed at what RPM's and fuel consumption can I expect.

All of this assumes healthy motors, correct props and clean bottom.

Many thanks in advance! The knowledge pool on here is incredible!

Popular boat here mine at hull speed (around 7 kts.) will give me almost 2 mpg. At my cruising speed of 14 kts. I get around .5. Rarely see that speed anymore. They're a very tough boat good in a sea but for me the flying bridge is hardly ever used visibilty at the lower healm is plenty. Do a search all these questions have been answered many times before. That said you'll find the numbers do wander around a bit I supose depending on fuel and all the stuff we all seem to acumlate on our boats. Bill

My numbers are about the same as Bill's.... I run mine at 1100rpm and that will put me about 8 - 8.5kt range.(excuding current). fuel burn is in the 5-6gph....Add an extra 1/2-3/4 gph for the 9 kw generator...
I contacted Hatteras and Detroit Diesel when I bought the boat in 2000 and they said I "should" run her at 2150rpm.... that would give me "15kts" (before we moved onboard and now have an extra 55 tons of stuff)... but it caused the fuel burn to go out the top.. Plus she didn't 'feel good' at that rpm....
If we make a day's run... I will push the throttles up to around 1900-2100rpm for 10 mins or so just to run them.....

I generally run mine at 2200 RPM 24 x 24 props and this gets me 14 KTS and around 22 GPH average. Haven't had the props done and I've had the boat for 6 years. They're probably due for a checkup.
