There has been some interest shown under another thread in a Gulf Coast Hatteras Rendezvous over the week of Thanksgiving, centrally located in the panhandle of Florida in the Destin/Ft Walton area.

My Admiral has given me a tentative "green light" for such a rendezvous, assuming there is sufficient interest to warrant the journey. Who would be interested in a gathering of this sort?

I will absolutely be there and if you can deal with me showing up in my 23 footer will come by boat :D

I'm local and would be happy to help arrange things.

We'll be there the next week I think. I'd like to attend, but we won't reach Mobile until about Nov 25th and Ft Walton Beach about Nov 30th.

Doug, You could make Mobile to Destin in 1 day if you choose. I made Apalachicola to Pensacola in 1 day and was there for 3pm. If this comes together, you may need to try to make it for Thanksgiving! It wouldn't be the same knowing that you are so close but just not quite there yet!

BTW the bay behind my house can be anchored out in. It can get a bit interesting if the wind picks up but its not bad.

And... everyone could dink in to the house.... have a beach and dock.

What 'ya think? Burgers/brats/pool/hottub at Karl's over Turkey Day weekend? C'mon, you know you wanna do it! The neighbors would likely crap their pants with a bunch of Hatts sitting just off our dock! (the water is too shallow to get closer than ~300-400' from shore, which is why you need the dinks..... ) Still, it would look darn impressive. I like the idea - let's put it together! :D

Sounds good to me I'm 80% sure I'll go I need to see how I recover from the CDRondezvouse party in Miami. and see how the Turbos hold up so far so good, just a small amount of oil leak I'm going to try to have them fixed after the CDR. Then I can do the GCR (Gulf Coast Rondezvouse) :D Randy kept trying to run my boat WOT and I told him thats how he broke his  You got to baby thies old girls or they will quit running on you :(

Will check with the admiral. Don't know what she has on the agenda. Sounds like fun to me. Karl, how long would it take me from Panama City doing 7.5kts. I'm based at the east end of the hattaway bridge.

I ran that way when Ivan was coming and it took me ~6 hours at displacement speeds (couldn't go faster due to all the boats in the ditch at the time!)

I pulled up the calander to really see what I was working with here and the kids have off 11/22 till 11/26 thats five days an I figure its 400-500 miles at 10nts thats 40-50 hours I wouldn't get there till thursday /friday and then I'd have to leave again :( so guys I think thats going to be too far . Carl, well it looks like you are taking your kids out of school for two days (20th and 21st) and leaving on the 18th like the rest of us or you are taking a vacation WITHOUT THE KIDS!!!! Either way it's going to be FUN!

Boy, one little throttle nudge and you're marked for life! If I had wanted to cruise at 8-9knots, I'd have bought a trawler or LRC than gets 2mpg.

If you wanna play, you gotta pay.

Back to the subject at hand, I'd love to do a Destin get together. Karl promised me he'd buy me a beer and show me his Pooh Bear video collection if I made it up (or down) that way.

Unless GoozBoy decides to pick me up on the way, I too may show up with something trailerable. I just got the bad news on my starboard 1271, it's going to have to be rebuilt. Surely it will be fixed by Thanksgiving though. If so, I'll be looking for diesel contributors who want to make the trip to Destin.

A Rendezvous? In my neighborhood? I'm there!!!

What an incentive to put Traveler back together and rush to completion!

I'm tentatively in, whether by sea or by road. :)

I'm glad to see your still around Freebird, I thought you got the boot.:)
