Portlight refinishing

I need to refinish my original (1969) bronze port lights and there is a guy here that powder coats. Has anyone tried this method or is there a better one? The powder coat guy does really nice work but will it hold up over time? I don't know what the OEM used but it was good until it failed. Then it just all fell off.

I think yours were originally chromed. They were on my 1966 41c.

Powder coat is just paint. If your not in a covered berth have it coated with urethane. The shine will last for 25 years. However there is nothing nicer looking than chrome.
