  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
41' TWIN CABIN (1965 - 1971)
A friend has removed his leaking portholes. He has them and the sutfaces all cleaned up and is ready to reinstall. He mentioned using 5200 to rebed them. My immediate reaction was WAIT! They will never come out of there again if you need them to! Maybe thats a good thing, but I always think twice before I commit anything to a life sentence with 5200. Is there another compound that would create a good seal, but will come apart later if the need arises?

Thanks Ang, Great link!

I would think that 3M 4000UV should be the proper sealant. This is what I plan to use to re-bed my rod holders and new window frames. If I'm wrong please straighten me out.

Yeah, I'd use 4000 UV for that job...... my general rule is that if I'm thinking about using 5200, stop me and ask me to wait an hour. If I again attempt it find something cold to pour somewhere useful (beer, ice water, etc) so I don't do something that dumb! :D
