What brand or type of Stainless windows. I am considering the NewFound metal units that I saw at the Seatle Boat show...

I have three of the original equipment plastic port lights for sale. They have the trim rings and plexi glass. The other five broke or were broken. I don't have any screens either. I dropped the money for 316 stainles replacements.
These sell at Sams for approximatly $218.00 each.

I have looked at their ports as well. Saw them at IBEX. No experience on the ports from them yet, but I have ordered hardware from them and they are A-1 excellent to deal with. Very nice folks.

Yachtsmanbill,
I sent you a pm my email is on vacation with a couple other of my programs.

Dutoff44 and SeaEric,
I bought the newfound metals at the newport boat show. They were 250 ea + tax and shipp, the screens were another 35$ ea. It ended up being about 2700$ when I was finished. They are 316 ss and very heavy, springloaded lens, made to how ever deep (hull thickness) that you need. they are still pliable to take the curve of the hull if need be, and they dont crack, and shiiinnnyyy. I am not trying to talk anyone out of mine but I just coudnt justify breakable plastic vs stainless for a difference of 20$ each. I like others here have been whacked by other bad "weekend" drivers. even had a guy come over a dock and hit me!!!

Mike

I purchased new found metal port lites for all 15 on my 44 tri cabin. They are outstanding looking. Company was very easy to do business with. Two sizes that I bought were 8 x 18 and 7 x 15 to fit since the 44 had two sizes of port lites. Fairly easy to install but a bit time consuming. About 4 hours for each unit. Good luck.

Am I understanding this right ?

These stainless steel ports will conform ( bend ) to fit the hull ? That just does not sound like they are very strong. I went to thier site and they do look good......except that outer ring.

I was trying to determine if the outer ring comes in solid stainless as to what they were showing what appears to be some stainless over a plastic ring.

If you have recvd these, and would not mind clarifying some of this, I would appreciate the time and info.

Thats about right. And a two person job at that.

It is amazing at the time some folks think a job can be done in, until they do it themselves :D

I bet they look good.any pics ?

Starman,

I think you were looking at the other ones they offer. The ones you saw are actually the less expensive ones. They have a cellulose foam seal and "some s/s in them. AKA tri matrix. I had the same reaction about "bending" to the hull as you but the factory rep said they were maliable and talked me out of the tri matrix ones. I dont have any pics as i have not installed them yet. As soon as winter goes away i will start installing them. Hope that answers your questions.
