The port engine on my dd 671TIs does not come up to temp. After running (idle to 1850 rpms) for nearly an hour, the temp guage continues to read around 130-140. I presume I have a thermostat problem (partially staying open?). Obviously, the only way to know for sure is to test it. However, my question is, if not the thermostat, is there something else I should be looking at? Guess the temp guage could be bad (or out of calibration), but if that was the case it probably wouldn't move at all.

Thanks. Jay

Jay, If you have an IR temp device, just check the engine temp at the base of the temp sender to see what it is reading. I'll bet it's reading much different than the gauge at your helm. Could be a bad sender or a bad gauge .... or both.

I agree that the first thing to check is the gauge... ;)

Yes...I do have an IR temp gun. Will give it a shot. Was considering the possibility. Glad to be confirmed by others. Thanks for the feedback. J
