The US needs to give some of these impoverished countries help in the form of birth control. If you cant feed em don't make em. No reason others should die for their irresponsible procreation.

he was on board with a gun uninvited and demanded control of the ship. GUILTY and ready for execution. No need to give him 3 hots and a cot for the rest of his life. That would be too good for him and many more would follow thinking they could do worse.
 
I think the Navy should just be told to release him..... But at the exact spot they got him..... It's a long swim to shore from there...

I agree with Sparky on this case and feel sorry for the young fellow.

Talk about a disavantaged upbringing. He is realizing his dream of finally coming to this great country of ours. He's also getting the best food and medical care he has ever had.

Poor kid is scared in a strange land, isolated from everyone he has ever known. It's a damn shame.

The only fair thing to do is to give this lad a fair trial with exceptional defense council. If found guilty, he should be spared the agoney of a life sentence and hung the next day.

Sorry dude, maybe your executiuon will serve as a warning to other young Somolie kids who might be tempted to follow in your footsteps.
 
It's just a bad situation all the way around. I've made my feelings on this one clear as to feeling pity for this kid, but he does have to pay for his crime. As for sitting in judgment, I'll leave that to somebody else because I can't honestly say I wouldn't do something drastic if I and/or my family were starving.
 
But NONE of this concern or whatever would have occurred if he had been shot in the act of trying to take the ship. NO ONE would care at all and everyone would believe he got exactly what he deserved.

I feel bad for his situation in Somalia but there are millions of people living in similar if not worse conditions all over the world. Once you choose to steal and extort without regard for the lives of others, then you are no better than an animal and should be treated as such. As I said before, the gun in his hand was not for self defense.

You're absolutely right. If that kid had been killed along with his buddies, I wouldn't have given it a second thought.
 
The piriats in Somalia have made a reported 50 million dollars, maybe more. They care so much about the maggot we have in jail they hired the best lawers, tried to aranged for bail, have moved his family here to be near him for the trial and promise to not hijack again.

Somali piriates now claim they want to kill Americans, do not care about their captured comrad, and have tried to hijack another US ship.

Not too much sympathy here. Wasn't it the practice during colonial times to stick the rotting heads of the pirates on a stake at the entry to town as a warning to others?
