I am not at my boat for a couple of more weeks. Someone is telling me that my anchor which hangs off of the bow pulpit is rusting thru. Could this be true? It is galvanized and it has been on the bow the 11 years I have owned the boat in Ft Lauderdale.

The phrase "rusting thru"sounds like it's probably an extreme case of overstatement. Surface rust is probably what's happening. My galvanized CQR, which is in bow chocks as my 2nd anchor, rusts and has to be wire-brushed and resprayed (with cold galvanizing spray) every year to avoid embarrassing me appearance-wise. ;)

I ve seen smaller CQRs rusting thru as in actual hole on rarely used moored sailboats. I d clean the spots to see how bad it is. Don't recall seeing on other types, except surface rust
