Hatteras Model
54' EXTENDED DECKHOUSE (1989 - 1992)
We have a 1990 54ED and have been trying, without success, to replace the rollers on our pilot house doors. It seems that after speaking with both Sam's and the door manufacturer, the version of the doors that we have seems to be a little different from what they have diagrams for. We can't seem to seperate the bottom track from the side of the boat in order to drop the door.

I tried to post the picture here , but my file size exceeds the file limit of the forum.

If someone has some experience with this, I would be happy to email anyone who might be able to lend a welcome hand in our endeavor.

Thank you....

Sam

You can use one of several programs to reduce the file size. Some of us here use Ifran. Our 36C has the same system on the sliding salon door. Sam's always talks about that bottom track board. I have never been able to make that work. I take the cap board off the top track, then if your springs work, you can use a screwdriver to lower the rollers from the track and pull the door out. The first time that I did it I had to remove the capboard, (don't forget that the outer track screws are threaded into this board. So, if you remove the screws you can see on the outside, you still must look up and remove the outer track screws before you can remove the cap board.). Next slide the door to one end and remove all the track screws that you can see. Now slide the door the opposite way and remove the rest. Now remove the door with the track and fix the stupid thing right. Sam's has that nailed.:)

The door lifts up and then the bottom comes out. You first need to remove the painted aluminum keeper rail from the outside of the bottom track. When you lift up on the door, you will feel it go up about 1/4". That's not much but it's just enough to swing the bottom out.
