Painting vinyl headliner

Has anyone had any recent experience painting vinyl headliner to eliminate resistant water stains? Some old threads recommend SEM coating or Kilz. Any advice?

Mine was done with a vinyl spray. It looks ok but not perfect.

I'd replace if possible

We painted ours with a white paint we had mixed at Home Cheapo. Took a sample of some of the headliner from a spot that it did not show. Color match was perfect, but would second what Scott said on looks. Better than the water stains and other people do not notice it but I do because I know where to look. John
