What are people using to touch up old Imron paint jobs these days?

I originally thought my boat was repainted with Awlgrip, but it seems not...

Meaning, the guy that supervised the paint job on the boat informed me it is definitely old school Imron, circa 1989.

Ideally I am looking for something that does not have to be sprayed.

You can roll or brush Imron. It is all about thr thinking to get it to flow.

We just painted our boot stripe and swim platform with Alexseal while we were at the yard. We rolled it without tipping by using their rolling additive. Amazing results, no bubbles to tip off.

I have heard good things about the Alexseal stuff.

Regarding the Imron, my understanding is that you can't get the same stuff anymore, it is a different formula, etc?

Hopefully I am going to consult with a paint and fiberglass guy locally and come up with a plan for on going touch up issues, etc.

Main thing I think is really that it very well might be a custom color, it is much whiter than the regular hatteras off white.

Over the years, I think there have been a few versions of Hatteras Off White. The AwlGrip color called Oyster White is pretty close to at least one of them.

If you have a flat panel you can easily remove ,you can take it to a body shop or paint jobber that has a color camera and get a close match , or possibly send the panel to a paint mfg. maybe they could help . The Dupont Imron paint number was 508u in the 70's and 80's .

I have painted the old Imron and the new Imron Elite on my boat and you can't tell the difference. The formula has changed but the color and shine look the same. I did not paint the basecoat/clearcoat but had it mixed as a single stage paint. You still have to add the hardener.

Old Imron paint code: 67766u
Imron Elite paint code: 883769
