looking for suggestions or experience on painting hypalon tenders.checked old posts didnt find much.

Defender and/or Google.

For painting on registration numbers I use a permanent black marker like Sharpie. It remains legible for a couple of years. Then you just touch it up.

OBX Tucker painted one a few months back. Look for his post and pics.

While I was initially pleased with the results of the MDR, it did not hold to the original paint/finish as well as I would have liked.

What reall drove me nuts was that after finishing the paint job, I left the RIB on the trailer for a cople of days in the driveway. It was going to be about a week or two before we headed back to the boat, so I put the cover back on to keep it clean. Long story short, I removed the cover about a week later and my new paint job started coming off with the cover! Fortunately it was only a few small spots, but I was a little more than ticked off!

We touched up the spots with some leftover paint and it looks fine now, but I'm not sur how long it's going to last. At this point, I wouldn't recommend it.

I also had a bad experience with painting a tender I used to own. The paint started to bubble up and peel off in some places. It also was much harder to keep clean which defeated the whole purpose of painting it. Essentially I wasted my money that I could have used towards a new or newer tender. In short, don't do it ...

My tender, an Achilles, is 25 years old and the top sides were badly faded. I had some extra Penetrol left over from a paint job. I put 6 coats off same on my dinghy with a rag. It looks like brand new now. I didn't realize how good it could look. Ron
