Overall Length of Shaft for 53MY

Guys:

Does anyone have the measurement for the LOA of the shafts in 53MYs? I am needing this information to do some engineering calculations regarding shaft materials. Any information would be great. Should consider quill shaft length plus "main shaft" including coupler as one dimension.

I think that is in my blueprints from Hatteras. I won't be able to look until next weekend though. Also, my boat will not go in the water until the 28th so if you don't have an answer by then, I could measure them for you.

May not be the same on all 53's. I have a 46C and was told by Hatteras and Tom Slane that the shafts could be 12' or 12' 6". The yard that repowered my boat had a 46C, same year as mine, same engines and gears, but longer shafts.

When we purchased our 1969 53' MY the star side shaft's had to be replaced during the survey. I just took a look at the invoice. We replaced the Star side with a one single 2" dia, 20'1" long. Tapered end. Maryland price was $3600.00 for the shaft. Thought I would replace the port side. Checked on prices here in NC. $1900.00 for the same item. Hope some of the info helps.

In our 1981 53' MY 2"Dia. Main shaft is 168". Stub Shaft 72" Shaft Material is Armco Aquamet #22 .

Shaft length might vary over time with slightly different designs...and perhaps with engine choice as not all engines are the same length....
