1987 6 v 92 i am having an over heating problem at low RPMs. I have cleaned my strainer and changed my impeller and it seems that my water flow from my exhaust is comparable to my starboard engine. My temperature is 180 degrees between 800 and 1200 rpms. But under 800 that it creeps up when i stop for a bridge opening or running at idle I begin to run close to over heating. Is it possible that it is my fresh water system? Thanks

How long has it been since the heat exchanger has been apart? Where any of the blades missing. Make sure the sea strainers are not drawing air. Do you have scoops on the outside? It almost sounds like its loosing its prime when the boat is stationary but that's not what you would typically find. They usually start overheating at the higher rpms. I'd be curious to know what you find. A circulating pump will cause it to overheat if the system has been apart and the air is not blend out of the system.

Saturday we are going on a sea trail will advise
