  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
42' LRC - Mark II (1980 - 1985)
Hi, I own a 42 LRC, and am looking to get the outside step lights in order. They may be called courtesy lamp as well (please excuse that my English is not 100%). I cannot find a switch for them? I have tried the inside companionway step light switch, doesn't work. Navigation lights doesn't work. The switch below the ceiling light doesn't work. And I've measured with a Volt meter on one light where I removed the bulb.

So please, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Kristian

Welcome to the Forum! As you may know, contact Hatteras to get a full copy of your original Owner's Manual. This will give you all the wiring diagrams and other information for your boat when it was first manufactured. Unfortunately, most of us find that many changes have been made by prior owners. You will then have to figure out if these are good or bad changes.

Please do not worry about your English. We can type very slowly.

Glad to have you here!

Thanks Fanfare, I've already read the entire original manual, but all it describes regarding step lights are the bulb type. So to rephrase the question; what do you guys do to light your outside step lights? Do the navigation lights or anchor lights need to be lit? Or are there any other combination at all to light them?

Also, thanks for the slow typing ;-)

Bump :-)
Can anyone please help?

I have a small light outside which when turned on can light the path just forward of the wing doors that gives access to the boarding steps or ladder leading to the dock. My switch does works independant from any other switches. Nothing else needs to be turned on. Like you said earlier you might think it is located near the companion way leading to the salon. Thats is where it is located along with the switch that controls the sundeck lights. If nobody knows where the switch is, surely a LRC person knows. Doesnt the LRC have their own forum? I bet they would know.

I would describe them as courtesy lights under the overhang Mine are controlled from switches located at the pilothouse doors, they are the top switches.
